Things were going like they always did at the police station that day. The usual small crimes but other than that it was actually a pretty peaceful time.
The door opened and a man walked in hurriedly. He looked like he was very well off by his cloths and his air of confidence even while looking worried screamed that he was a business man, and a good one. Why such a big shot would be coming in to the station when they could easily offord much more expensive help for any crimes committed against them was a mystery to any one. But walked straight to the desk without hesitation.
"My daughter is missing." He said loudly so as to demand the officers attention.

As a homicide investigator missing persons wasn't part of his job. At least, not usually. But occasionally the missing person's case comes on his desk, usually after the previous investigator has the belief that it is actually a homicide. These have been showing up a lot lately and most of them were being left open for the next only to be left open again. What was with this serial killer? It was only going to be a matter of time till one of these cases was going to be his responsibility to solve. That, or all of them were going to come at once.
Seido was returning from an afternoon coffee. The cafe across the way had some of the best flavors he had ever tasted. The expresso machine in the back couldn't even compare. There was only a few more pages of paperwork and his latest case will be finished. He wondered if he was going to be teased once he walked back into the back. Usually he was, at least since the cafe opened and he came by at least once a week. How long does it take for something like this to become usual.
It didn't really matter. He supposed. He took a sip of his coffee before he walked in. It was just before the man announced that there was a missing persons.
"How long as she been missing?" the officer at the desk asked. It was a front of sympathy. Seido could tell easily and the man could probably also sense that. He was glad he didn't have his job though. But it had to be easier then talking to the victims about their lost loved one.
He tried to ignore the conversation the two were having and began walking to the door that lead to the back.

"About a day." The man said in answer to the police officer. His face went in to a more worried look as he said this. His confident front faded a little. It was obvious that he was panicking underneath it all.
"Her name is Kotone Hane she's 5'4 and her hair is currently purple" He was giving out information before it was even asked for they needed to get a move on it to find his daughter. Did they not understand how bad this was.

He should have ran back to his desk while he could. Memories were coming back to him as his fifteen year old self was in the same shoes as this man. At least the man was more composed then he was. But who could blame a teenager when he was under the influence that it was his fault. Actually, he still believed it was his fault, but he was well past beating himself up over it.
"Hane... Hold on, sir. Let me get the form." Suddenly the officer seemed a bit more rushed. Not very often do big names come into the precinct. And the situation could be much more dire then not. But that wasn't really the thoughts that ran though his head. It was more that this man could get him fired if he complained enough.
Dwelling on his past, Seido continued to watch from the doorway that lead to the back desks.
"Alright..." The officer began filling out the form to what Mr. Hane said. "When was she last seen." His front was back but there was a slight nervousness about him now.

"I saw her this morning at breakfast and none has seen her since." The worried look was getting worse. In fact he looked like he was almost on the verge of tears though he was holding it in very well. "She's 18" He threw in trying to think of all the information possible to help get a description in so they could find her. "And probably wearing a long coat. She was home schooled but recently graduated and she still lives at home with my wife and I."
he was trying to think of anything anything that he could they had to find his daughter. Kotone was the most precious thing in the world to him. After what happened to her mother he couldn't bear it if the same thing happened to her.

Not looking good... Seido just watched as the officer looked back up at the man that stood before him. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet. He shouldn't have even been filing the paperwork at that. 48 hours was the general rule about these sort of cases. And then she was eighteen.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. You said this morning and she was eighteen correct?" The officer was now beginning to think this as some joke.
Seido pushed himself off the wall and straightened his tie. He had more authority then the officer at the desk right? His brain wracked through the numbers of being here and his specialized title. He should have more authority. That is if it came to that point.

Apparently Mr. Hane also saw the direction that this was taking. His fist clenched. "It's not like that. If she were going to go someone where she would tell me or one of the servants first. And she doesn't go out normally. I have reason to worry." He looked less worried and more stubborn now. Even if he had to force them he would have them start looking for his daughter.
He could here others around the room muttering though he ignored them and focused on the office he was talking to.

Sadly he knew that this was a rather normal occurrence for the people up front. But his memory was sticking to him. This man could be serious about this. And besides, if it was a run away, the father wouldn't know at all. He would be stuck there worrying, wondering if his daughter was alive or not.
What's going on? Some rich guy claiming his 18 year old daughter's missing 18...? Probably he's the only one actually missing her. Yeah... Lets see if this actually makes it to a case.
"Sorry, Mr. Hane, but I cannot file this report till she is confirmed as missing." The officer said.
For some reason Seido had a feeling that this man was going to say 'then it will be to late'. After years of taking on cases he was able to read people rather well. This was also one of the responses he received many times when the loved-ones told about their last few days with the deceased. That was something that couldn't be overlooked.
He had his card right...? He fumbled with his coffee a bit till he found the business cards in one of his pockets. Why he had these in his pocket he wasn't sure. He hadn't been to the crime scene in over a week. No point in thinking about that now, it was a good thing he had them.
Seido walked up to the man. "Excuse me, Mr. Hane." Quickly he gave a bow before continuing. "I am Investigator Seido Susumu. I couldn't help but overhear your issue." He gave the officer a wave and he went about his business after a bow. That line could have came out better. But he didn't know exactly how to butt in when he was offering his services not the other way around.

Mr. Hane clinched his fist even tighter. "And what happens if It's to late once you have decided that it's official that she's missing. How many lives have been lost becasue you refused to act." His temper was getting the better of him. He knew his daughter was in dnager even if she had just run away. She wouldn't be safe untill she was home and she wasn't even safe thre thanks to his father.
His rampage stopped however whnen the new officer came over."If you are going to attepmt to convince me to go away and sit at home by the phone then don't waste you're breath."

That was all he could tell the man. But at least he had a trick up his sleeve. He put his coffee on the desk and took out his business card. He flipped the card over and took a pen to it before handing it over to the man.
My PERSONAL cell: ###
Seido smiled to the man. "Give me a call if she doesn't show up tonight. I will take it upon myself to find her." He was going to let the man turn over the card himself to see what his full title was. Saying he was a homicide detective right of the bat probably wouldn't be the wisest idea. Though, he was almost sure that this man wasn't going to stand for a tonight. He wouldn't either... But he was trying to keep to the rules just by a bit.

Mr. Hane thanked Seido and left in a hurry it was obvious to him that besides the one investigator he wasn't going to get any help. He looked on his own for a while thinking of anyplace where Kotone may have wanted to go just in case she had only suddenly discovered a desire to adventure but he couldn't find her.
He was starting to panic again as he remembered the card. He flipped it over and read it before turning back to the back and calling the number. He wasn't going to wait. So as soon as the ringing ended he started talking.
"Listen I know you said tonight but it can't wait that long.... My daughter.... she has...... a condition....." Yeah that was a good way to describe it... he sounded just like his parents they way they talked about Kotone. Her condition...........

The phone started ringing. He could feel his personal cellphone vibrate in his pants pocket as his work phone was clasped to his belt in plain view. It wasn't that he was hiding his personal phone, it was just more convenient to have it in his pocket. And having two phones was much better then one. He didn't want to think there was a murder whenever his parents called.
But now he was thinking his parents were calling. And it was actually work. Oh well. But it wasn't nearly as late as he hoped. Seido was still at work finishing up his case. He knew this was going to happen so he shouldn't complain. If he was going to complain in the first place he shouldn't have volunteered to help.
...condition. That changed things significantly. If he would have told the police that in the first place they might have helped him far sooner and given him far less trouble than they did. And with that, he definitely couldn't stay here for the last 20 minutes. He wasn't getting much done on his case anyway. For some reason, he had a feeling that this case was something big.
"Alright, Mr. Hane. I understand. Where should I search for her?" This is one bad thing about this case. He had absolutely nothing. It was going to be like finding a lost kitten... Which, he has done.

"I......I don't know." The voice on the other end of the phone sounded worn out and defeated. "She's never been out of our house before. Not since she went to her mothers funeral when she was three....." Her rubbed his face tiredly and let out a sigh.
"I would say check the graves but I doubt she even knows where Hanae is buried." After all going to a place once when you were a child... there was little chance that Kotone would be able to find it. He started pacing on the sidewalk as he thought.
"Maybe somewhere that you can find a lot of birds....... She........ she really likes birds......." This sentence almost choked the man up and it was probably obvious to the police officer though the man would have no idea of why this particular detail seemed to cause Mr> hane so much pain.

Well, no wonder The girl is missing. She's 18 years old and still locked away in the house. This must be some serious condition. That or it's not and that is another reason why the girl is missing. The reason why he took this case is growing dimmer and dimmer, but non-the-less he was going to finish it through.
"Alright. Call me back in two hours. I am sure we will find her eventually." He hung up the phone and started packing away his things.
"Where are you off to?" They asked.
"Emergency call. Don't worry, it's not too serious."
Seido ran out the door.
After about an hour, his appearance went from straight out of the precint to his suit looking more casual. He unbuttoned a few wholes of his shirt and loosened his tie. The business suit form 9-5 wasn't for him. But he could walk around like this all the time.
Graves and birds... that's all he had to find this girl. Then he got an idea... A very silly idea but an idea. He ran to a convenience store and bought a small bag of bird seed. This might work or might not... It didn't cost him much anyway. After he was out of the main stream of town he started scattering the seed and waited for all the city birds to show up.
Now he looked like some bird man. He continued walking, scattering a bit of seed after a few steps.

Kotone was thoroughly enjoying her day so far. She has walked around the streets and window shopped for a while. It hadn't taken her long to notice that people looked at her coat funnily though. For the most part the half demon ignored them all. After all she had expected it.
They would have stared at her more if she had her wing showing. In the end she decided to seek some solitude and went to the less crowded areas. There was a gathering of birds that caught her eyes and she headed for it.

Mr. Hane had kept up his search as well for another couple of hour's before giving Seido another call. "Any luck yet?
