Koenma was looking gravely at the papers in front of him with out actually seeing them. His stamp was sitting quietly on his desk when it should be in full movement at that moment. The prince of spirit world had something on his mind however and he wasn't to motivated to be stamping.
He was worried. With the rate at which things were escalating Miyu could very well be dead soon. She wasn't strong enough to handle the cases that he needed her to tackle and he wasn't about to send her off to her death. She was no Yusuke it was unlikely that she would amazingly come back alive when she should have died like her predecessor.
It was a miracle she had even survived her encounter in the cave with Arai. Though at least she now had a partner to go with her. That comforted him a little. But with no training they would both be overpowered soon. The barrier being gone meant that A class demon roamed freely in the human world. S class could even come in now if they wanted to.
He needed to prepare her and that meant getting her some training. The only question was from where..... Who did he trust enough to train his spirit detective?
Genkai had crossed his mind but he quickly pushed that thought aside. The woman probably wanted to be left to her peace now that things had calmed down. She was old even though she didn't always act like it and she didn't deserve for Koenma to be dropping another teenager in to her lap.
He drummed his fingers nervously on the desk and that was when it came to him.
There was one person he could ask. Though it was a long shot. And convincing him could be tough depending on his mood. It was worth a try though.
So Koenma left the room and when he came back he was in his teenage form and dressed in street cloths. He gave George orders for what to get done in his absence and set off for the human world.
Once in Ningenkai, Koenma set off down the streets in search of Yusuke. Hopefully the ex-spirit detective wouldn't be to hard to find and hopefully he was in the mood to do Koenma a favor.

As fate would have it, Koenma wouldn’t have to look too hard. The ex Spirit Detective wasn’t far away.
Four guys sat at the outdoor bar at one of the popular sandwich hang-outs along the street. The sun gleamed down through the cloth overhang, plunging them and everything beneath in a shade of green.
”In local news, a man was shot to death at 9 o’clock last night while walking down White Myrtle Street from his work.” The reporter on the small, dusty TV on the other side of the bar explained. ”We aren’t sure of a motive yet, but investigators suspect the shooting was gang related…” [/i] ”Ha. White Myrtle. Isn’t that two streets up from your crack corner, Yusuke?” One of the men teased through a mouthful of hotdog, the three of them breaking out into chuckles. They all seemed about the same age. Young, between 17 and 20, recent high school graduates of the same class, perhaps? They’d sat down after Yusuke. As a matter of fact, he was waiting on his check right now. ”I’m about to put my boot two streets up your *ss if you don’t shut up.” The dark haired boy growled in response. ”That joke’s getting old.” For the life of him Yusuke didn’t understand why his apartment was such a big deal to everybody. Surely his old classmates had something better to throw in his face. Maybe he’d been away longer than he thought. The man blinked then held up his hands, smiling apologetically. ”Heh, s-sorry. Didn’t know it was so popular.” What a wuss. Yusuke’s eyes wandered the scenery boredly as he waited for his bill, elbow rested on the counter. Traffic was backed up in the lunch-hour rush and the pedestrian crowd had thickened. A little kid wearing one of those horned nomad helmets suddenly caught his eye, Yusuke blinked and straightened. Though, her mother soon pulled it off her head as she they disappeared into the crowd. He sighed, and lowered back into his glowering frown. ”Man, this sucks…” He couldn’t help but think. It seemed no matter how far he put all this underworld crap out of his mind he always caught himself doing something like this. Looking for the boogie-man in a lunch-crazed crowd. He almost thought he saw Koenma walking there in his teenage form. ”…am I really that bad?”Wait… Wait! That WAS Koenma! ”Hurry it up old man! I’d like to get out of here before I’m gray!””Hold your horses! I’m coming…here.” The elderly cook couldn’t hold the check out quick enough before Yusuke shoved a handful of money in his hands and dashed off at full speed. ”Keep the change! Service was great as usual!””Yeah yeah.” Yusuke shot across the street, dodging honking cars then shoving too-slow people once he reached the side walk. ”Koenma!” He yelled, looking around frantically. ”D*mn, I lost him!” He switched directions, running down a crosswalk that was still red and nearly getting flattened for the second time in his life. ”Hey, Diaper b—“ Yusuke’d finally shoved past the wrong person, it seemed. A monster of a guy, muscles rippling beneath his orange tank top, suddenly grabbed him by his shirt collar and yanked him off the ground. The crowd gasped, some still climbing to their feet as they jumped back and made a circle in a matter of heartbeats. ”Augh!” Yusuke turned, eyes blazing. ”YOU DON’T WANT TO MESS WITH ME RIGHT NOW!”-BAM- The ground shook when the man landed hard on his back and the circling crowd hushed, a small, bloody tooth bouncing across the cement.[/blockquote][/size]

Koenma sighed as he continued to walk down the street. So far there was no sign of Yusuke. Then again with the streets so crowded it wasn't to surprising that he wasn't having any luck.
There was a loud yell. The voice and the insult it was shouting sounded almost familiar. But it was gone with it seconds and as hard as Koenma looked around he couldn't spot the person he was searching for. So he took the opportunity to straighten the headband that converged the Jr. on his forehead and was about to continue on when he heard a thud from the opposite side of the street.
Well if there was some kind of commotion going on that would be the best place to look to find Yusuke. He always seemed to be in the middle of things even when it was his own doing.
Unlike the ex-detective Koenma waited for the lights to change. Unlike those that worked for him, the spirit world prince was not very much in shape and probably wouldn't have been able to manage dodging the cars.
It didn't matter much however as the huge circle of people were still surrounding those that caused the ruckus in the first place. It took quite a while for him to make his way to the center.
And what do you know. "It figures." He almost laughed. "I should have just started looking for something like this in the first place."

"Tsh." Emensly aggrivated now, Yusuke turned to walk away with fists tight and a snarl on his face. The crowd parted to let him through, then turned their attention to the unconscious man he'd batted to the sidewalk. "Well that's just great! I have no idea where to look for him now." If Yusuke lost Koenma now so help him...
"It figures."
Yusuke gasped softly, snarl vanishing like a cookie in a flock of first graders and he lifted his blank stare to see the prince standing dead in front of him.
"I should have just started looking for something like this in the first place."
"There you are you are! You slimey little punk!" A huge grin spread over Yusuke's face as he gave a happy laugh, jogging to close the distance between them. For a little bit Yusuke would grab him in the biggest bear-hug this little squirt had ever seen in his life. But...he didn't miss him quite that much. Koenma was in luck though. Yusuke was in a fantastic mood. And why? Well, because Koenma was here! And when Koenma got off his lazy tail to go somewhere himself you KNOW sh*t's about to go down. The prince was to Yusuke what a souvineer was to a traveler. Just looking at him made Yusuke feel like he was back in the saddle. Koenma meant spirit-world stuff. And spirit-world stuff was the drug Yusuke was craving.
"I hope you weren't looking for me...You kinda' just walked right on by me up the street." Heh, well, maybe he was and maybe he wasn't, "What's a brat like you doing off your booster seat anyway? Something terrible must be happening."
He sure hoped so.

Apparently he had actually caught Yusuke by surprise. That in it's self was laughable if not all to difficult to do.
"Really? I passed you?" Well that also wasn't to surprising. After all it was incredibly crowded and Koenma wasn't used to finding people on city streets.
"And really Yusuke I thought maybe you'd matured passed those insults. I suppose somethings never change though." It wasn't something he really minded anymore at least not from Yusuke. It was part of who the ex-spirit detective was.
He listened to Yusuke talk and ended up with a small frown. "Something terrible...... Well you could say that. Can we talk in private? I actually came here to ask you a favor."
Since Yusuke had brought it up it was best to get right down to business. After all if it wasn't for this then Koenma wouldn't have come to see Yusuke.

Ha! Booya! Yusuke knew something awesome was bound to happen with Koenma showing up. This was the happiest day since…well…he left demon world he supposed.
”Uh…yeah, sure.” He said, not quite sure where in a crowded city somebody could talk in private. He wasn’t digging the thought of having a boy-scout meeting in the men’s room – especially with Koenma and that d*mn pacifier in his mouth.
So he just waited to see where Koenma went or if he was going to poof them off somewhere. Hopefully this ‘favor’ would involve some hard-core beat downs. Heh, not like he was going to ask him to train some punk new spirit detective, or anything…
Right?

So Koenma made his way all the way back out of the crowd with Yusuke close behind him. Immediately he began searching for some place to talk. After all it wouldn't be a very good idea for them to be talking about spirit world business where other people could hear them.
The two walked down the street silently for a while then Koenma spotted a decent enough place. It was a little ironic too.
The small park was pretty much abandoned. The only people in it were a group of high school students on the other side who were messing around looking board with their lives. So it would do after all the teens wouldn't bother the two of them and if they did they would end up regretting it with Yusuke's temper.
Just like the last time they had talked in the human world Koenma sat down on a swing just to be sitting. "So I would say that I hope you've been keeping yourself out of trouble. Only, that obviously not the case." The swing rocked back and forth a little bit.
"So things haven't exactly been going the way we all hopped with the barrier down though I can't say that it's unexpected. Things are actually a lot better than they could have been what with Enki actually enforcing his rule."
He paused again. "But things I'm afraid are about to get back to about the point they were when I first hired you as spirit detective." The prince fell silent again. Waiting to see what Yusuke had to say.

A cool afternoon breeze swept up from across the park, carrying with it a few dead leaves. It was a lot cooler out here than it was inside the bulk of the city. Those tall, concrete buildings and skyscrapers were a trap for the heat. It was comforting in a way.
Yusuke stepped up on the swing beside the prince of the underworld, standing there. It seemed his rightful place. "You mean like how you were desperate and would hire the first bum that could hatch a spirit beast?" And live, he should add.

"Something like that." Koenma smiled a little. "Though this time I didn't have to wait for a suitable candidate to die. Not everyone is as messed up as you." The prince joked lightly.
Putting the joking aside it was time to get back to business. "She has a lot of potential. I never would have thought that I would be hiring a street fighter instead of a martial artist for the second time. But so far she has been doing well."
At least she had been. But things were starting to get more serious. The battles were only going to get harder and the opponents Miyu had to face were going to be stronger.

The hinges creaked where the swing's chains attached to the overhead pole as Yusuke began to let it rock back and forth just slightly. So he'd hired another "street fighter"? Ha, poor Koenma. Was he missing Yusuke that much already? Just because this girl had a similar background didn't mean she'd be anywhere near as awesome. He couldn't help from think of that girl that was a spirit detective a long time ago. The one with the family that lived in the cabin when Raizen's guys came to him. And he wondered if this new girl was anything like her.
'But?"

Koenma sighed again. "It's the same as with you really. She's completely new to this. She may have the potential but there's no way to reach it on her own."
He had a feeling that Yusuke was going to be less than pleased with the favor Koenma had to ask of him. The dark haired boy was probably hoping for something much more action filled than what Koenma had in mind.
It was a bit of a gamble he knew. There was nothing to gurentee that Yusuke would even be capable of being a teacher. He was a powerful fighter yes, but he lacked patience and Miyu was almost as annoying as he himself was. Then there was the fact that Koenma had to actually convince Yusuke to agree to it in the first place, not to mention he was an S class demon and Miyu was just barely at an upper C at that moment.
"So, what would you say to training your successor?"

"WHAT?!"
Yusuke, darn nearly, fell right off his swing. After a fit of arm waving to regain balance and regrip the chains, he fixed Koenma with an outraged glare. "That's what you came all this way for?!"
Nah, he was just joking....He had to be joking...wasn't he? Though, it WOULD explain why he came looking for him himself. Like heck Yusuke would take it message like that from Boton.
Like heck he'd take a message like that from ANYBODY.
"Give her to Genkai!" He exclaimed, skipping right over his usual nickname for her in his desperation. "Or Kurama even! I'm sure he'd love having some snot nosed street kid arguing with everything he says!"
Yusuke tormented his teachers. He hated teachers. Genkai was an exception, but...d*mn, he couldn't put up with half the stuff she'd had to. But in all honesty, Yusuke's biggest reason for absolutely dead-beat turning it down was because he had been expecting something better. Like ordering hot chocolate at a cafe and them bring you out something totally different that you've never had before. The new drink may or may not be that bad, but you wanted HOT CHOCOLATE. Period. Koenma needed to take this weird drink back and give it to someone else.

This was exactly the reaction Koenma had expected from Yusuke. He didn't even sigh because really to be exasperated he would have to be surprised.
"Yes I came all the way here to ask you about this because it is very important."
The next thing that Yusuke said the prince had already anticipated. "Genkai has already been through enough with training you." He pointed out. This was a fact that Yusuke couldn't really argue with after all he knew himself.
"And you know four years ago you were some snot nosed street kid." The corners of his mouth pulled up a little in a smile. "Who knows you might bond a little."
That was a bit of a stretch but it could happen. Miyu was very much like Yusuke in temperament. So maybe just maybe having Yusuke as a teacher would help her learn faster and drop her pride enough to not argue constantly.
"Face it Yusuke you're the best one for the job. You can argue with me all you want but it's true. You've got fighting experience from training and before that. And you have experience in being a spirit detective." He paused to let this all sink in to Yusuke's head before starting again.
"I'm going to need her to be as prepared as possible for whats coming. I don't know if you've felt it yet but this peace could very well be the calm before the storm."
He hoped that that worked. He wasn't sure what else he could say to convince Yusuke to do this. A silence fell as he waited for the answer. The teens on the other side of the park started to leave, apparently board with the spot.

Koenma was making good points. And Yusuke didn't like it one bit. Yeah...the old hag was probably ready to bite the big one at any time now...and he cringed slightly at the thought. "I really need to go see her..." She, Yukina and Pu didn't deserve to be aggrivated by some new, green detective running a muck. And even if Koenma did give her to Genkai and she gave her half the trouble Yusuke had, he'd be back and forth to kick her *ss for it anyway. So why not just teach her and get it over with?
"Face it Yusuke you're the best one for the job. You can argue with me all you want but it's true. You've got fighting experience from training and before that. And you have experience in being a spirit detective."
"Well Yeah but--"
"I'm going to need her to be as prepared as possible for whats coming. I don't know if you've felt it yet but this peace could very well be the calm before the storm."
The dark haired demon stepped off the swing and pushed his hands in his coat pockets, stubborn scowl seemingly perminant on his face as he glared down the leaving teenagers even at Koenma's final words. Sure, with the barrier down Yusuke had suspected it was only a matter of time before something went down. If not sooner, then later, when the next tournament came around to decide the new king of Demon world. He could be an absolute douche for all anybody knew. But Yusuke hadn't literally felt anything yet. And if this new spirit detective did faulter, it's not like Yusuke and the guys were going anywhere. He, Kuwabara and Kurama might be establishing the rest of their lives in human world - and Hiei who knew - but they were still four cans of arch-angel kick*ss just waiting to be reopened.
He was silent for a moment. Then asked finally, pessimistically, "What do I get out of it? A teacher's award to hang on my wall?" Pshyea, what a deal...
"I don't even see why you need a d*mn spirit detective with us around..."

"You know that you can't act on behalf of spirit world anymore." Koenma said a little to patiently. "You're officially retired as spirit detective and I need a man under my authority in the human world. Besides even the four of you can't be everywhere."
Koenma stood up leaving the swing to sway loosely with the absence of weight. "And you're supposed to be settling in to your new lives. Aren't you and Keiko supposed to be getting married sometime in the future? I can't exactly be ordering you to go do this and that anymore."
Not that Yusuke couldn't do things to help on his own if he wanted to and if it really came down to it Koenma could always ask for some help from at least three of them. But it was important for there to be someone who's job it was to take care of these things.
"As for what you get out of it.... well if I know you at all it's safe to say, that you have probably been pretty board lately."
