The air held the scent of a fresh rain upon the city that had come and gone. There was a strong fragrance of flowers drifting upon the breeze. The smell of the cars driving upon the street could not even fade the overpowering scent of cherry blossoms.
Day was turning into night. The night held a sweet warmth that hugged the city tightly. Many people took night strolls to enjoy the pleasantness that came from such a day. The morning had shown a quick moving storm. The lightning had lit up the sky, and the thunder had shook the city. Then came the down pour of rain that had drenched the city for the majority of the day. Now, as evening was settling in, the rain had stopped pouring and a nice calmness took hold.
The small café on the corner was open still, inviting more customers though not too many people stopped by. People were mostly leaving the café to go enjoy the nice weather that had just swept in. The café became quieter, and the staff was able to wipe down tables and sweep the floors.
The bell to the front door jingled as someone opened the door and slipped in. Little Kamoku Itooshii slipped inside of the café with a small stack of books in her hands. She was wearing her green plaid dress with a bright lime green raincoat and boots. Her green bag was on her arm and swung on its own accord as she walked about.
Down passed the front windows she went until she found her table. Kamoku sat her books down upon the table top before slipping off her bag and putting it beside the books. Off went her bright raincoat which the girl wrapped around the back of her chair. With a few quick movements of her hands, Kamoku fixed her long blonde hair, making sure the locks were out of her face. The petite human sat down, and a waitress walked over to her. She ordered a hot chocolate with plenty of whipped cream. The waitress went off to retrieve the drink.
Kamoku often ventured all the way to this café for some peaceful reading or researching. She knew all of the people who worked in the shop; she came her way too often to not know them. They knew that she often kept to herself while in the café, reading books that only took her a few hours to complete.
After a moment, the waitress came back with hot chocolate, and Kamoku thanked her before thumbing through her books. She had a few fantasy books hidden in her stack; the rest of her books were poetry books and books about airplane crashes and modern writers. The girl picked up one of her writers books and started going through the pages.
What was better than to sit back with a cup of hot chocolate and read from a few books? To Kamoku, nothing was more rewarding.

Finally it was over. That last case was stressful. That had taken him nearly two weeks to solve. And to think, it was the man's own wife that had killed him. The woman that reported the incident right when it happened, the woman that was crying in the meeting room to catch the killer. The woman that gave so many likely leads and then tried to frame a few of them for the job.
He was glad it was over.
Now it was time for him to celebrate. But instead of going to the bar like some. He went somewhere else. One of his favorite cafes.
The precinct swore that they were going to send him to rehab for his addiction. He didn't drink coffee to keep him awake, but just for the taste. He loved coffee. Any coffee would do, too, other then decaf. That was just counterfeit coffee. Something that had the title, but tasted nothing like it at all.
Seido walked into the cafe rolling his neck. Just the aroma was a treat for him. But tonight he was going to order at least 2 coffees. And if he felt special after that maybe more. They cashiers greeted him quickly with a smile and called him out by name. He was here far to much that even the new girl knew him by name. The fun part of the whole ordeal is that they couldn't even guess what he was going to order.
As he ordered he loosened up his suit. The top few buttons of his dress shirt came undone and the navy tie came down a few inches from it's once perfect place. His suit was unbuttoned then it was time to wait for the rest of his coffee to be finished. Casually, he leaned on the counter and his other hand came to his hip, moving the jacket to the side. His gun was then left exposed for everyone.
"Here you are Detective," the new girl said. He had yet to learn her name. But he was going to leave that for another day. Right now all he wanted to do was relax. Seido picked up his cup of coffee and walked to a booth near the only other customer there. Just like he never ordered the same cup twice, he never sat in the same place twice.

The door to the café opened and closed once more as someone came inside. Kamoku glanced up as she always did from her books when someone entered the shop. Why? She was unsure of why she looked up so many times. No one she ever knew came inside of café while she was around. Perhaps, her glances were just a habit that was hard to die. Perhaps, everyone that came in just fed her imagination and helped her create her own stories both in real life and upon paper.
This one who came into the café, Kamoku swore she had seen him before. One of the regulars of the small coffee shop. She would know; she came to the café way too much. She enjoyed familiar faces. They made her feel as though she was in an elite group of the regulars who came to the café. They should have reward cards made for them. She spent so much of her book store money on hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.
The man went up to the counter and was greeted by the friendly staff. A flash of metal caught the corner of the petite girl’s eye, and she took note of the handgun on his hip. The girl called him a detective; well that would explain why no one got upset with the appearance of a gun. Most shop workers would have started to freak out; Kamoku would know. The detective got his cup of coffee and walked over and sat in Kamoku’s general area.
Kamoku placed her book down as she rummaged through her shoulder bag. She pulled out a nosy bag of M&Ms which she opened and started to munch on. Color by color she chose. First she started with the brown M&Ms and then the orange.
The girl could not help but to keep a curious eye on the detective. Which she didn’t think was too strange. Most people could not help but watch someone who carried a gun at his side.

Coffee... Seido just took a big whiff of the coffee not yet drinking it. With all of the flavorings he put in it, it obviously wasn't how normal cops took their coffee. After sniffing it for a little longer he took a sip from the cup. Now that hit the spot.
This was some of the best coffee in the city. At least, that is what his opinion was. After a deep sigh of relaxation did he open his eyes again. For the most part, the cafe was rather quiet. All but some crunching. But he only smiled. It wasn't an annoying sound, at least to him. His eyes shifted over to the girl and his smile grew a little. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his badge and flipped it open.
"I'm legal," he said casually before putting his badge away. He pushed up his glasses before taking another sip. Now that he had his coffee he was a little bit more observant of where he sat. The girl he sat near was definitely a regular here. Not many people would lug a big pile of books to a cafe unless they were looking to study for class. With that aray of books she had to either be a literature major, or a book worm. Which, if you think about it, it's just about the same.
"That's a fun habit you have there," he said acknowledging her M&Ms. "Brown, Orange... I would suppose that Yellow would be a bad guess."

A blush burned in her cheeks as she realized she had been caught staring. The detective flashed his badge in perhaps an attempt to make her feel a bit more comfortable about the handgun at his side. She knew that he did not come into the café to hold the place up. He was a regular, and regulars wouldn’t hold up one of their favorite cafés. That simply just did not make any sense, at least to Kamoku it didn’t. Why harm such a wonderful place?
“I would hope so,” she said. “You are definitely old enough to be legal, but I think you were referring to your gun and you being a detective.” Kamoku gave a giggle at her own terrible joke. Oh well, dumb humor helped her feel more comfortable.
He commented about some colors, and it took her a long moment to realize he was referring to her M&Ms. She seemed a bit OCD about how she ate her candy. She hadn’t even realized that she was eating them by color. It didn’t make much sense to eat M&Ms by color anyways. They all tasted the same, just different colors.
“Yes, actually, yellow comes next,” she said with a smile as she popped in another M&M to her mouth. “Then, red and blue battle it out, but I always save green for last. Green happens to be my favorite color, so I save the best for last. Would you like some?”
Kamoku held the bag out to the detective with a sweet smile across her lips. “I haven’t poisoned them, I swear.”

Seido blinked a couple of times. That was an odd way to put it. He was clearly of legal age too, but why that comment. He tried to wrap his head around it but gave up. It wasn't very important. Besides, she found it funny so that was all that really mattered. A smile came to his lips. Though he didn't understand, that didn't mean he was going to think it was odd. There were many things he didn't understand in this world.
"Green is your favorite color then." Now that he said that it probably should have been obvious from the start. Everything she wore was green, and even her raincoat was green. Unless the fashion trend changed so that green was the new black. Or was it the new pink? He didn't understand fashion trends really. Once one gets to a certain age, the same style and color clothes just becomes natural.
He gave a thankful bow before holding out his hand. "Killing me would be a federal offense," he said smiling. There were few colors left in the M&Ms at least the the brown and most of the orange gone. "That would be a sad end for a detective... Being murdered... After investigating murders for all his life, he ends up part of one with his own life." With a conscious effort he ate the candies by color till only blue remained.

Kamoku gave a slight laugh and a shake of her head. “I couldn’t murder anyone,” she said before popping in a few more M&Ms into her mouth. “I am too gentle to want to end someone’s life. Sure people have annoyed me, but not enough to where the thought of killing has slipped through my mind. Life is too precious.”
At least the human’s words were true. She had never had the want of physically harming someone so severely. Even though most of her young life had dealt with teasing and bullying, she never wished such fate upon her peers. She would have been no better than the bullies who pestered her throughout school.
“It would be irony, though, if you were to be murdered,” Kamoku went on. “It would make for one of the best irony filled books.” She sat back a bit and looked into the air as her hand moved as though reading invisible words. “He was a detective all of his life, studying murders, until one faithful night where he was murdered himself. Read this thrilling story in Kamoku Itooshii’s Homicide Detective Murderer.”
Kamoku giggled at her ridiculous antics for a moment, shaking her head. She was probably making this stranger uncomfortable. She often had a habit of making those around her inch away as though she were psychotic. Oh well. She lived with her strangeness.
“I am Kamoku Itooshii, by the way,” she said as she looked back to the detective.

You would be surprised now many times he heard that line then it turned out to be a lie. How many times they said 'I would never her him/her' or 'I would never hurt anyone'. Sometimes it was true. Thank all that is good for that. If it was always a lie, what kind of world would they live in. And because it wasn't always a lie, he could trust that this girl was telling the truth. Besides, they only met, there should be no reason she would want him dead... At least, he hoped.
"Now you are going to have me killed for your story," he teased. "I would read it... That is if I was still alive to read it." As long as it wasn't too much of a romance novel that is. It would just be odd to have a character based off yourself written in a romance novel. He was getting ahead of himself, she wouldn't base it off of him. She might not even write.
"Seido Susumu," he smiled. "Nice to meet you Kamoku.

“It’s nice to meet you as well, Seido Susumu,” Kamoku said cheerfully. “You have such a pretty name, or handsome name may be the better terms. I think your parents did a nice job with naming you. And maybe I will write a story about you and a hopefully never happening but ironic death. It’ll be my first best seller.”
The petite girl gave another little laugh as she ate some more of her M&Ms. She really needed to get back to active writing. There was a lot expected from a girl with such important and famous parents. She did work hard on her poetry, but she needed to work even harder on her writing. Maybe her parents would have been proud of her regardless of if she made it big in the literary community, but just in case Kamoku was going to work to make her name well known.
“Maybe you can be my inspiration for getting back into writing my novels. I am going to be a big hit some day. You watch.”

So she was an inspiring writer. It was one thing to talk about writing it. But she actually seemed rather serious about it. It didn't seem that she was one of those otaku girls. Not that there was anything wrong with them... just some had... interesting thoughts. At least his sister didn't wasn't going to end of that way... or was she?
"I would rather the one that lives in a novel." He took a sip of his coffee before standing up. There was no point talking across the room. Especially sense they were talking actively now. With a few steps he was standing, holding his coffee, beside her table. This itself was better then talking the way they have been.
"I would love to be your inspiration, Miss Kamoku." He said smiling. "And... I suppose that if it is a best seller... I will be alright with dying... Story wise."

“Well, we will have to definitely wait and see what happens in the end,” Kamoku said with a slight laugh. “Maybe he will somehow escape his death in the end. You never know until it is written.”
The petite girl sat back in her chair. Now the detective stood before her, and she had no problem with that at all. She was able to get a better look at him with this nearness. He was pretty cute, and it surprised her that he was taking the time to walk over and have a conversation. Well, maybe luck was on her side tonight. She had found someone who was not creeped out by her and someone who would not go running off, giving weird glances back to her.
Pale fingers moved up and tucked blonde locks behind her ears. This movement seemed to only cause more hair to fall into her face. The consequences of having long hair.
“Feel free to sit down,” she said, gesturing to the seat across from her. “I don’t mind at all.” Kamoku piled up her books quickly, making a bit of extra space.

If only the books were mangas this girl might have been what his sister would have become. Thinking of that made him smile as he took the girls offer and sat down. "I didn't want to invade the books' privacy." he said.
Now back to what the conversation they were having before. "I'll have to read the manuscript when you write it. It sounds like something I would read... If you did it right." He almost had an accusing tone at the end. Like he almost doubted she could do it right. It wasn't harsh, but it was slightly forced. After all, he didn't know how much she knew about this occupation, and two, he didn't know what she will do with him saying this.
He took a sip from his coffee as he waited for her reply. The steam fogged up his glasses slightly but it quickly cleared up. Coffee was the amazing.

Kamoku thought over his words as her tiny fingers gently touched the mug that held her hot chocolate. The outside was still pretty warm but did not burn her finger tips. If she did it right he would read it. Well, this seemed like a challenge that the tiny built girl was willing to take. She would write this stranger a book he would relent putting down.
“Well, a good writer always gets her facts down before she embarks on the journey of writing. Perhaps I do not know much about detective work, well, only what they show on the television, but that can hardly be called the facts. I would read and learn all that I could before starting my story.”
She lifted her mug up to her lips and took a slow drink from the steaming liquid. Only a fool would write about something they had no idea about. Kamoku was no fool, and luckily she was a fast learner. She was always top of her class even if no one noticed.
“Maybe I could job shadow you for a few days. You could teach me all about your work. The best way to learn is to be out in the field. Of course, that would be completely up to you, Detective Susumu.”

So she would actually do it right. This was making him very interested. Hopefully he wasn't just boosting his ego and hyping up this situation much more then it needed to be. That wasn't very much like him. But for some reason... He thought that this girl could do it.
She would study to make sure she did the job right. There was so much for her to sift through. And on top of that... There was the fact that one would have to know exactly how a criminal thinks. To learn how to tell the lies that some of these murders think up. It would be a very hard job to accomplish.
"I don't think I can let you do that..." He said still holding his smile. "Unless you get permission from the Head of Police."
He looked down into his coffee cup and found that somehow he had drank a good majority of it already. Within the next ten minutes he was either A going to have to go without, B get another cup, or C leave. C is definitely not an option. Not now.

“Well, I guess I will just have to go to the Head of Police and bat my pretty little eyes in his… or her direction,” Kamoku said before batting her eyelashes in the most obvious way to Seido. She would have made Minnie Mouse or even Olive Oil proud. She gave a laugh. “My grandmother is always telling me, ‘Just bat your pretty teal eyes at all the boys; no one could resist those eyes’.”
The girl gave another laugh, shaking her head slightly. Oh her grandparents said strange things to her. Of course, she had never tried batting her eyes at any boy before. She could only assume that she would have to do much more than make pretty eyes to get what she wanted.
“Who knows if that would work,” she said with a slight shrug. “I would probably end up making a fool of myself.” She smiled, shaking her head slightly before popping in a few more of the little chocolate candies. Who knows, she was probably just making a fool out of herself to Seido.
