What troubles was he trying to cause himself. Or would this turn into a problem at all in the end? He laughed though as she batted her eyes towards him. "Your grandmother might have a point."
They both knew however that it would take much more then that to persuade the Head to even consider the idea. Perhaps he shouldn't have even bothered bringing up the idea. Who knows if it is even an option. But, if there is a will there is a way. "But maybe that should be a plan B."
Since his old partner retired, Seido has been on his own. How would it be if he had someone to work with again. To be honest, he didn't really know with how long it has been. But it wasn't that she was going to help. It was just a job shadow after all.

Kamoku gave a slight laugh and even… a slight blush. Well, that was unexpected. An undertone of a compliment, a flirt. Were they flirting? How strange this was for the nineteen year old girl. Had she ever flirted before? Well, she had had many failed attempts. Yet, this time, her words were smooth. This was just light conversation, wasn’t it? No reason to stammer and get nervous.
“Well, I could dig around and figure something out. If worse comes to worse I could just tell him that I am really interested in detective work, but before I get too in over my head I just wanted to see what all it entails. And… make sure I dress professional at least. May have to tear up my closet for some clothes, but I think it would be worth it.”
This was beginning to seem fun and exciting. Just the aspect of following a detective around while he did detective work, well, most would jump at the chance. Law enforcement shows were rather thrilling. Shadowing a detective would be like being in an action movie only with everything being authentic.
“Who would have guessed we would start talking about such things?” she said with a smile before taking a sip from her hot chocolate. “To think I thought I was only going to read books I’ve read so many times already and drink my usual hot chocolate. You have really made this evening interesting, detective.”

He couldn't exactly see this bookworm as a detective, but he only smiled at her comment. Perhaps she'll see that this work wasn't what TV made it out to be. There wasn't high speed chases to find the killer, there wasn't always this ominous bad guy on the other side. Few stories actually end with all the ends tied neatly. But the biggest part is that these people were real. The deaths were real.
"Thank you, Miss Kamoku," he said before continuing. "I was just planning on celebrating with a few... cups of coffee." He tried to accent the comparison to bottles of beer but he wasn't sure if he hit it as well as he hoped. "I just finished a case today."
He continued to think about how this girl would look as a detective. She just didn't seem cut out for it. Especially sense her innocent look would probably get her abused by someone at some point. Not that that was a reason to not pursue a job. But there is a reason why some people get into this job. And it wasn't the black and white, to help people.

“It’s no problem at all just pointing out some obvious opinions,” Kamoku said before taking another drink from her hot chocolate. The liquid had cooled down quite a bit since she had ordered it, and now the drink was rather enjoyable to drink.
Cups of coffee. How peculiar. She would have thought that most male detectives went out drinking with the guys after finishing a case. Maybe Detective Seido Susumu was just different than the others. Or maybe he was just disproving a stereotype. Maybe it was a bit of both. However, Kamoku felt as though there was more to this. Seido seemed to be lacking a gang of guy friends.
“I am sure the case was interesting or at least time consuming if you have to go out and have a small celebration,” she said with a smile. “I would ask about it, but I don’t know if you are allowed to share such details. I am not really sure how much detectives are allowed to share about such things. Are you confined by confidentiality laws like doctors are or no?”
Well, maybe she did have a lot to learn. The average person probably did not simply study what a detective can or cannot do. She should have read up on such things; she did spend an awful lot of time with her nose buried in a book.

The whole world shall know he is a coffee-holic. He didn't find it embarrassing one bit. As said before, drinking coffee wasn't hurting anything but burning a hole in his wallet. It was much better then drinking or smoking.
"Well," he started. "Since you are not on the jury I think I can disclose some minor information about the case." Seido went to take a drink from his cup when he noticed that it was nearly empty already. Perhaps he just needed to drink slower to help his addiction. Either way. "Let me order another coffee first. Can I get you anything?"
The detective was already in the motion of standing up when he was asking this question.

“Oh, no I’m fine,” Kamoku said with a polite smile. “I still have plenty of hot chocolate; so I am pretty content. Just get yourself more coffee. I want to hear what you have to say about that case you just finished.”
The petite girl would wait there patiently. She enjoyed hearing stories, and she was sure this case would be an interesting real life story. She would get to see how well of a storyteller Seido was as well. Hopefully she would be able to trail after him for a while to learn about being a detective; then she would definitely have her own stories about the field.

He went up to the counter with a smile. He stood to the side so that he wasn't in the way of anyone as he concocted what he wanted in his mind. The girls at the counter always had trouble figuring out his total because of his custom orders. With how many times they rung it up wrong he was probably even with them. Occasionally they over charge him, other times it was under. But all he wanted was the delicious coffee. No matter what the cost.
After perhaps ten minutes he finally returned to the table and carefully sipped around the whipped cream topping without giving himself a white mustache. "If you like cherries, you can have it," Seido said watching as the candied cherry turned his cream red.
"Well," he said whether she took the cherry or not. "I assume that you want to hear everything about the case, don't you."

“Thank you,” the girl said as her right hand traveled over and her fingers pinched the cherry. She popped the little fruit into her mouth and ate it up quickly. Kamoku sat back against her chair once more, relaxing a bit as her back straightened.
Of course she wanted to hear everything about the case. She could not help but to be incredibly curious; she somehow was containing herself. She was curious about the entire world, and this was a great chance for her to learn a bit more.
“I want to hear everything you are willing to tell me,” she said, sipping once again from her hot chocolate. “I wouldn’t want to hassle you at all and try to pull out what you don’t wish to share.”

"After I tell you... You know I will have to kill you," he teased. There was no possible way that Seido could be mistaken for Secret Service, FBI, or CIA but it was rather fun to joke about it sometimes.
"It actually wasn't a fun case at all. It took me two weeks to figure it out... It started with a call at 5 a.m... he explained. How much he wanted to tell the girl he wasn't sure yet. Most likely the case was going to be released to the public anyway. Not on the news, of course, but if someone wanted to know, they could eventually find it. "I arrived at the scene by 5:45. The man was found dead outside his apartment, but it was staged to look as if it was a mug gone wrong." Seido continued on explaining how the wife was very cooperative and was able to give information about multiple suspects that were all very easy to place at the scene.
His story was only paused when he took a sip from his coffee and him waiting for her response. Occasionally he scan the store around them to see if there was someone that was listening that really shouldn't be. But there weren't many other people, and the workers were having fun in the back.

Kamoku listened with all of the child like curiosity anyone could muster up. His story was interesting, and Seido proved to be a master storyteller. Of course, this was no fairy tale. This was a real event that had happened. A real case with murder and deception.
The petite girl finished off her hot chocolate, setting it to the side as the detective finished up explaining the case to her. Her teal eyes wandered towards the window for a moment as she looked out into the street. Where had the time gone? The sky had darkened considerably.
“Well, it’s sometimes surprising to think that the closest people to you can be the ones who murder you,” Kamoku responded. “Such a heartless thing to do, you know. I couldn’t imagine marrying someone to just kill them down the line.”

To marry just to murder. There weren't very many that would do just what that sentence said. But sadly there were to many that did. Funny how that actually made sense. Sometimes it was because of income that spouses are driven made, other times it is cheating. Then there are those that marry the rich and kill for life insurance.
"Not much surprises me anymore." At least for long. He can't say he can see everything coming, but once the initial shock wore off usually the crime felt normal... just like any other case. "And I don't think many plan on that path... But, some actually do."

Not much surprised him anymore. Well, how depressing. In his work, every day could have felt like a mystery or suspense novel. Had his work lost all of its luster? Or had there ever been any luster to begin with? Well, Kamoku did not know why Seido became a detective. They had only met a short while ago, as it would be, but she felt as if they had known each other for quite a while now.
“May I ask why you became a detective?” the petite girl ventured. “I hope you don’t mind me asking. Curiosity seems to get the better of me more than not.”

For some reason he could feel that she didn't quiet understand what he meant by what he said. It was true that murder didn't surprise him. He could look at anyone and think of some way they could be a murderer. It might take him a while, but he could eventually find one if he tried. Seido couldn't be gitty about getting a call about a body being found.
"I don't mind that you asked." He said as his once happy smile turned into a rather depressed smile. "But that is my own business there." He took a long wiff of his coffee then took a drink. He was using it to calm his thoughts and try to clear his mind of the reason why he became a detective... But he did have some information he could give...
"I wanted to be a police officer since I was young. Occasionally my ideas changed but in the end I always drifted back to being a police officer. Back then it was that I wanted to lock up the bad people, but eventually I learned that it wasn't always bad people that was arrested and good people set free."

“Well, alright,” Kamoku said nonetheless. At least he gave some answer, and she could ask for no more. She gave him a gentle smile. Well, at least she knew there was more to his story, but it was personal. She understood.
The girl chewed on her lip as she looked out of the window. The café would not be open for too much longer. They would have to go their separate ways at some point. Deep down, she was hoping that point would be at a later time.
“Do you have any other plans for tonight, Seido?” she asked the detective as her teal eyes moved back over to him. “Going to go coffee shop hopping? Or just wandered back home for a quiet night?”

Plans? He didn't really think that far into his future for tonight. He was probably just going to go home and either review old cases or find something else to investigate on his spare time. He hasn't found any new leads on the case he wanted to complete yet... That was probably what he should be spending his time on... But he already nearly drove himself to insanity before, he didn't want to start that again.
He shook his head and cleared out his thoughts. How did he get so ingrossed in his thoughts? That was rude, especially since he was talking to someone. "Sorry..." he said first before he tried to recollect what she said. "I didn't have any more plans tonight. He cuckled, "I know quiet well there are not very many good coffee shops open after this one. Next one opens at 5 AM."
Was it sad that he knew this already?
