Treasure

[Rie]

Rie smiled as she clutched the necklace in her hand as she ran. "I can't believe it actually worked." she chuckled.
Finally, her charm had worked. After so many failures, it actually had worked this time, the first time in a long time. She ran to her sanctuary, her home, the woods. She clutched the necklace between her teeth as she jumped a log. When she landed on the other side she was in her fox form and she continued to run. She couldn't wait to get to her hiding place and see how valuable this necklace was, even though it didn't really matter to her. Stealing had become no more than a game to her.

[Naiou]

She really just needed to let loose for a little while.

Naiou thought that as she headed in to demon world and arrived in the thick forest. There had been nothing but trouble lately. First there had been that whole incident at Kamoku's house and then Miyo found out about demons. She was glad not to have to lie to her best friend anymore but it was stressful all the same. She was sure that knowing was going to cause Miyo to get in to a lot of trouble. She wasn't sure how this was going to happen but it was something the telepath could feel in her bones.

She found a nice place to stop and floated up to one of the branches of a tall tree. When she was high enough she grabbed on and climbed up while be wary of any one near. Luckily there wasn't anyone or getting up would have been awkward. She really needed to stop coming to demon world in her school uniform but really there was no other time except right after school to do this. She loved living in the human world but even with Miyo knowing about demons it wasn't exactly safe to let loose like she wanted to do.

As she usually did Naiou flexed her psychic muscles but levitating a few rocks to her level and floating them in a circle in front of her. She let out a sigh of contentment. It felt great to not have to worry about how she used her powers. The familiar scent of demon world was both comforting and disturbing most demons would say that she was going soft for thinking like that. Naiou didn't really care though all she wanted to do was sit there and enjoy her moment of total freedom.

[Rie]

Rei continued at a run, going deeper into the forest. She didn't stop till she came to the area she was calling home for the time being. She returned to her demon form, allowing the necklace to drop into her hand. With her other hand she picked out some of the leaves that was still stuck in her hair and let them float to the ground.

She lifted the strap that connected to the wooden tubing that held her spear over her head and leaned it next to the tree. She then sat down next to it and took a closer look at that necklace.

"Hmmm, this isn't bad." she mused. It was just a simple gold chain necklace. "Not my style though."

She was beginning to wonder just how much something like this would go for when she suddenly stilled. How could she have not noticed this before. There was a scent in the air. She quickly stood, dropping the necklace and grabbing her spear from it's container.

"Where are you?" she growled as she began looking around, taking in her surroundings.

[Naiou]

Naiou looked down as the other demon came close and stopped right under the tree that was her current perch. The fox like form morphed and showed a young demon who didn't look to even be much older than herself, and Naiou was pretty young of a demon. The blue haired telepath kept silent and still as she watched the demon examine a necklace in her hands. She was still however floating the rocks though she wasn't paying much attention to them anymore, it didn't take much concentration to accomplice the levitation of few stones.

It was almost amusing that the other demon hadn't noticed her yet oh wait scratch that. She could practically see the girl bristle as she caught Naiou's scent. The demon must not have been very good at picking up auras if she had noticed the smell first. She heard the other demon demand to know where she was as she took up a spear and Naiou almost sighed. Was this how her day to relax was going to go?

"You should be able to tell that for your self shouldn't you?" Naiou stood up on her branch and put one hand on her hip as she looked down at the other demon with disapproval. Her long blue hair was in it usual pony tail and her skirt was luckily not showing off her underwear not that it mattered in this particular circumstance.

"Is it smart to pull a weapon on someone when you don't know how strong they are? I mean really I could take that as an insult an slaughter you just because for all you know."

[Rie]

Rie quickly looked up in the tree she was under and took in the appearance of the girl there. She was also young, probably around her age.

"Because I am so cautious, it's how I've survided these past years." she replied.

She lowered her weapon slightly, but kept her guard up. She didn't know anything about this girl and it was better to be safe than sorry. Rie soon picked up another scent, but it seemed to be coming from the girl. That scent was not that of a demon.

"Humans?" she thought aloud to herself. She had never experienced the scent of humans before. Her mother had always told her they had stunk, but then again, she never had gotten along with her mother to begin with.

[Naiou]

"You have been lucky then." Naiou told the other demon. She flopped back down on to her tree branch. After all to be pulling a weapon no matter what and still being alive? The girl had gotten lucky enough not meet a powerful demon with pride apparently. She turned her attention back to her rocks and started them in some random pattern rather than just around in one circle.

She was actually planning to just ignore the other demon until she went away. After all if she hadn't been detected until the girl was right under her then she couldn't have been much stronger than Naiou herself.

"And if you are so careful how did you end up walking right beneath me? It would have been easy to ambush you and you wouldn't have seen it coming." Her rocks did a few little flips as she looked sidelong at the other demon. She had decided to talk to her again after all. That comment of humans made her uneasy. She had to get the measure of this girl. If she wasn't careful she could be followed back to human world and then Miyo could get hurt.

This is one of those time that Naiou wished she was stronger. If she was strong enough to take out any threats then she wouldn't have to be so wary about her encounters with other demons. Then again she hadn't been very careful the other day when she had been at Kamoku's and Kurama had shown up. The whole meeting had just made her blood boil. She had been stupid though and was still surprised that she wasn't dead.

[Rie]

Rie flipped her spear and stabbed it into the ground. It seemed this girl wasn't interested in fighting.

"Just because I have a good sense of smell, doesn't mean I'll pick up on it right away." she said.

It wasn't a complete lie. She didn't pick up on scents right away, but even that was rare. She didn't pick up on the scent quickly this time because her mind was busy on her small victory of stealing that stupid necklace. She wouldn't have to let that happen again.

She had to wonder though. Why did this girl have this scent on her. Was it really possible that she had been to the human world? She supposed it was very possible, even now since the barrier had been taken down, but why would a demon want to live in the human world, or even visit it for that matter?

Rie decided not to dwell on it. She picked up the necklace and examined it again. She most likely wouldn't get much, but money didn't matter to her. It was the thrill that came with it that made the ordeal worthwhile.

[Naiou]

Naiou looked at the other demon with appraising eyes. She was assuming that the necklace was recently acquainted and not necessarily in a legal fashion. Of course that didn't always matter in demon world, the place was absolutely crawling with thieves.

"Right away and before you enemies cut you to pieces are two different things you know."

She started to make the rocks move as if being juggled and followed them with one eyes while the other stayed fixed on the demon. She was wondering whether the other demon was leaving anytime soon so that she could leave as well. She wasn't as thrilled to be here as she had been originally. She still didn't know if this demon would pose a threat to Miyo though.

Carefully and slowly opening her mind she probed in to the mind of the other girl. She was no Kurama that was for sure so she may actually be able to get away with slipping in to her brain especially since she hadn't even sensed her physically. It took a lot of mental training to be able to sense someone in your mind.

She continued to float the rocks as before after all stopping would look bad for what she was aiming for. All she wanted to do was find out what that humans comment had been about.

[Rie]

Rie ignored the girl's comment, even though it was true. After looking at the necklace a few more minutes, she tucked it into her clothes. She unstuck the spear from the ground and put it into the tube before placing it onto her back.

'That has to be humans I smell.' Rie thought. 'There is only one way to find out and I'm sure as hell am not willing to go there.'

She looked to the south, sniffing the wind a little. 'To many demons that way. I don't care to run into them.'

She turned to the west and sniffed the wind again. 'Doesn't seem to be that many this way. I'm sure I can avoid them.'

Without a second thought, the young fox demon took off, quickly disappearing in the trees and the brush.
